Philos, Eros, Agape Love in Religion Essay Example
Philos, Eros, Agape Love in Religion Paper Philia, eros, and agape are three different Greek terms for the word. These three terms explain the different types of love a human being can acquire. Philia is a love of friendship, which is grounded in commonality. However, eros is a kind of love that seeks something from the other person or thing. Lastly, agape is the love that wills the good of the other and is completely self-giving. The meanings of these Greek terminologies, philia, eros, and agape, allow us to better understand and discuss our relationship with God and human fulfillment. In order to find human fulfillment, one must find God of Jesus Christ as well. Erotic loving is our desire for this fulfillment, which can be seen through eros. Human nature can be simply defined in our constant want and need for infinite. The infinite, for humans, is never being satisfied, always wanting more, the best, and as much as we can get of something. This insatiable drive within all of us takes us to the question of human fulfillment. Eros is not a noun but yet an action or an activity. For instance, eros is the longing and search for a significant other throughout our lives. All human beings in one-way or another seek about human fulfillment. An example of someone who struggled with human fulfillment is Augustine. Although later he became known as Saint Augustine, in his earlier years he was everything but. Augustine was very intrigued by very common materialistic desires such as worldly possessions and lust. These skewed desires enthralled his thoughts, words, and actions. Consequently, Augustine became involved in petty crimes in order to feed this idea of ââ¬Å"loveâ⬠in the materialistic world. This concept of love and desire can be further illustrated as a receding horizon; the farther you continue into the horizon the bigger and more numerous your wants become. Later on Augustine reflected upon his materialistic ways of life and made significant life changes to become the Saint Augustine he is referred to today. As exemplified, the essence of eros can have a negative outlook and has been evaluated as such by Jean Paul Sartre. Sartre attested that the human being is a useless passion due to our insatiable desires. Markedly, human beings desire to retain the infinite and that need is simply impossible. For the search for the unlimited is tiresome and unappeasable. Conversely, there is an alternate way of looking at eros. In order to have hope, God has to appear to human life as not a receding horizon but an absolute savior. Human beings long for the truth and due to the constraints of science and history, Jesus is seen in an alternate way because he is no longer limited by space or time. In this case, Karl Rahner and Saint Augustine both agree that God always initiates the relationship with human life. Namely, they asserted that we are constantly drawn to God and God is not drawn to us. Because of this, we have the option of forming a better relationship with God. Rahner said that God dispenses his grace to all human beings of every religion in and God is continually accepting. Chiefly, it is not Godââ¬â¢s choice to accept or deny us, for that is not his matter?. Anthony De Mello describes another explanation of human fulfillment to us. He explains to us that in order to have human fulfillment, we must detach ourselves from our worldly attachments. As human beings, we allow ourselves to believe that we cannot be happy without a certain thing or person in our life. Thus, that is not correct. We completely wreck ourselves with the belief in finite things. De Mello also emphasizes that we shouldnââ¬â¢t not care about these things and people in our life but rather we realize that we can live without them and be intent with that. ? Besides eros being a description of love there is also philia. Philia is the love of friendship or brotherly love. This kind of love is seen most commonly between friends who share things in common. Once we seek God, we have a friendship with God. Although, God is not described by philia because it is not completely reliable due to changes in friendships in positive and negative ways, and Godââ¬â¢s love never changes. On the contrary to philia, agapic love is God. The terminology of agape explains Godââ¬â¢s love as it wills the good of the other. Agape is all self-giving and never asks for anything in return. When a person gives them self to God, this love is agape. Nevertheless, agape and philia types of are critical to having a strong relationship with God. ?à à à à à à à The doctrine of the Trinity can be viewed as God invites human beings into the inner life of God. Consequently, the doctrine of the Trinity correlates with this topic of discussing the types of love. The idea that God is three persons, yet one essence exhibits that God revealing Godself. God not only communicates with us, but he also draws us into the Trinity. Rahner expressed that the doctrine of the Trinity ââ¬Å"is not a subtle theological and speculative game but is about the self-communication of God. â⬠In the final analysis, there are two models that Christian theologians have formulated in an attempt to address the question of the salvation of non-Christians. These models are the Replacement Model and the Fulfillment Model. The Replacement Model mainly represents the Fundamentalist and Evangelist churches which existed over most of Christian history. This model emphasizes the scriptures from a literal standpoint. According to the Replacement Model, in order to be saved one must be in connection with the Church. Quite clearly, the Replacement model is not very accepting of other religions and believes only Christians will have salvation. ? The Fulfillment Model represents the majority of modern day Christians. The Fulfillment Model preaches the perspective that Christians need to have dialogue with non-Christians. In addition, many Christians think itââ¬â¢s not fair to punish those who have never learned the religion of Christianity or even heard of it. The Fulfillment Model is a way to accommodate people of all different faiths and as long as they are moral, that they too will see eternal life with God. By and large, Karl Rahnerââ¬â¢s ideas mostly correlate with the ideas of the Fulfillment Model. The only real difference is that he states is that other religious views are also true. The church did not accept Rahnerââ¬â¢s view because quite simply the church thought that other religions couldnââ¬â¢t be true and by believing so it devalued the image of Jesus in the Christian Church. In Vatican II, the council agreed with Rahnerââ¬â¢s except they said there was no such thing as ââ¬Å"anonymous Christiansâ⬠and that other religions cannot be viewed as ways of salvation. Moreover, I believe that the Fulfillment model is the most accurate description of how non-Christians should be viewed. I believe that all people have salvation in God because God knows and loves all human beings. Lastly, I believe that by thinking that God doesnââ¬â¢t save non-Christians limits the idea Godââ¬â¢s everlasting love.

For others it originated n Egypt or as V.English: Marc Pinto drawing a design on a client a...Wageman reviews in Victoria Lautmans book The New Tattoo the first tattoo may have come abo ut when "some stone age klutz fell down near a hearth[and] found charcoal embedded in his flesh"(8).through out history we can see that tattoos have served a variety of purposes. A Worst Teacher
I had dreamed about him several times, his face was clearly emerging in my mind, I will never forget his pair of fierce eyes and that wicked mouth. Mr. Yang was the worst teacher in my middle school, although most my middle schoolââ¬â¢s teachers are not very good. My middle school is a private school. When I was sophomore, Mr. Yang and our Music teacher had been espousal at same year. We all think they will have a ceremonious wedding soon. But the fact is not what we think. In Chinese school, every teacher has an assistant in each class, those assistants help teacher pick up papers and books, or take homework from us and edit then. My friend Yu was Mr. Yangââ¬â¢s assistant. Yu was a cute girl, she have nice voice and smooth long hair. But I detected a strange thing; every time she back to classroom from Mr. Yangââ¬â¢s office, her emotion had been changed, sometimes glad, sometimes displeased. ââ¬Å"Mr.à Yang must did something to her,â⬠I thought, anyway itââ¬â¢s not my business. Five years later, once all my middle schoolââ¬â¢s friends and I went to my birthday party, I began to ask our middle school careerââ¬â¢s mysteries of the unknown. Yu began to crying, I understand why, and ask her ââ¬Å"you cry because Mr. Yang, right? â⬠ââ¬Å"Yes. â⬠She answered. Then I took her to side. She said as she cried ââ¬Å"He is my boyfriend. â⬠I been shocked, doesnââ¬â¢t he have fiancee? Is this the reason why Mr. Yang and our music teacher havenââ¬â¢t done their wedding yet? I have a thousand questions to ask Yu, but it isnââ¬â¢t right timing. Yu kept telling me, and my eyes being opened more and more large. ââ¬Å"Wait; did you just say you went to hotel with him? â⬠I ask her. ââ¬Å"Umâ⬠¦ He also asks me some excessive demands. Aboutâ⬠¦Ã¢â¬ At same time, I canââ¬â¢t inhibit my dander. I tried to call my friend and go find him, but Yu stopped me. ââ¬Å"Let him go, we were just break, I believe that he wonââ¬â¢t have a blest wedding. â⬠Right, I thought, he did once, and then he will do twice, until he die, he will never find true love. Whenever I bethink of this event, I canââ¬â¢t stop to think and image Mr. Yangââ¬â¢s lousy eyes. I remember once my classmate Henry and I got a fight in second floor of our schoolââ¬â¢s hostel. This event becomes a legend in my middle school. The source of the story is, one day afternoon, my friend Bob and I were playing soccer in ours room. After 30 minute Bob has accidentally kicked our roommate Henryââ¬â¢s kettle. We looked at each otherââ¬â¢s face and slackened about ten seconds, and then he hastily said, ââ¬Å"Hide it! And never mention this kettle, orâ⬠¦ stay it, anyway no one knows. I nod immediately because I felt like I am an ant on a hot pan, but after half hour, this guilty feeling has gradually disappeared. ââ¬Å"I didnââ¬â¢t break anything,â⬠I thought, ââ¬Å"but I wonââ¬â¢t tell anyone Bob did it. â⬠Until to evening, we were all going to class, suddenly, a loud voice came ââ¬Å"Who did it! Who break my kettle!? â⬠ââ¬Å"No one break your kettle! Go to your sit and sit! â⬠our math teacher stand behind Henry and said; Henry have got to do so. After evening class, Henry walked to me and asked about his broken kettle. I pretend to do my homework and said ââ¬Å"Donââ¬â¢t know. Then I were peeping him once when he walked away. Second evening class was Mr. Yangââ¬â¢s Chinese class, After this period, every student began to walk back to schoolââ¬â¢s hostel; I followed people until to second floor of the hostel, a soft and cold voice came to my right ear, even I can felt that breath, ââ¬Å"I know is you, swindler. â⬠ââ¬Å"What did you just said?! â⬠I yelled. And then he yelled back ââ¬Å"I know is you broke my kettle, Bob told everything to me. â⬠Suddenly, I felt I been insult, I lost my mind, clenched my fist and gave his nose a full power punch, and he punched back of course. The result of this fight was disastrous, Henryââ¬â¢s nose bone been broke by me, and my right calf been cut and the wound is about three inches. Thatââ¬â¢s why this event becomes a legend in my middle school. We two have been taken to hospital then, two hours later we two back to our room. Henryââ¬â¢s bad is below mine, a kind of heavy atmosphere around this room for whole night. At 12 oââ¬â¢clock Mr. Yang came to our room, he punched my right calf and yelled ââ¬Å"you! Get up! â⬠And this punch such as rubbing salt in my wound. I groan out ââ¬Å"what are you doing?! â⬠ââ¬Å"What did you do,â⬠he asked back to me, ââ¬Å"You just broke a nose bone, donââ¬â¢t you know it? ââ¬Å"I know, but he cut my leg also,â⬠I watched his angry eyes and keep groan out; ââ¬Å"you even donââ¬â¢t realize the fact and conclude it my fault? â⬠ââ¬Å"The fact is you hurt Henry,â⬠he said. I hesitate two second, itââ¬â¢s really my fault? Henry didnââ¬â¢t hurt me? I know the fact is Henry cut my calf, and Mr. Yang punched at same wound just 10 second ago. I was hardly getting up and trying to debate with Mr. Yang, ââ¬Å"He wasâ⬠¦Ã¢â¬ Mr. Yang interrupts my speech and yelled ââ¬Å"You have nothing to argue, school will expel you! â⬠Then he shut the door hardly. I canââ¬â¢t believe it, he such a dictator and gave m e a conviction. While Iââ¬â¢m thinking, Henry laughed. Then he said ââ¬Å"deserved nemesis, you know who am I? My dad and our president are old friend. I can even call the president dad. â⬠I was silenced. At that time, I understood everything. I understood why Mr. Yang says that, but why does he punch my calf, will he get his wage growth up? By this point, I classify Mr. Yang is a lackey. A teacher teaches student a lot of things; include morality, not just education. You may never meet a teacher such like Mr. Yang. Something that cannot be publicity, but I must write about it. I will never meet a teacher ââ¬Å"greatâ⬠then Mr. Yang. The Marxism of Valentin Essay Example | Topics and Well Written Essays - 750 words
The Marxism of Valentin - Essay Example For as the play progresses, his inner struggles come to the fore as Molina's character gradually transforms him, influencing Valentin through his romanticism, to be honest with himself. And as he succumbs to Molina's romantic ideals, his typicality is defined as he confesses about Marta "She's upper-class. Pure bourgeoisie. She's got everything. Money, looks, education, freedom... I'm such a hypocrite. Just like all those class-conscious pigs. I must admit, it was convenient. A safe place to stay, when I was forced to hide... Until one day I had to tell her about my other life" (Puig, 63). Perhaps this particular side of Valentin can be regarded as his weakness as their movement demands absolute loyalty. On the contrary, it only proves Valentin's humanity and his capacity for reflection. In my opinion, Molina and Valentin personified Manuel Puig's strongest characters. In Molina, I saw Puig's homosexuality and escapism through films, whereas in Valentin, I saw his Marxist conviction. This is evident in the narration of the film by Molina: But did Puig, as a Marxist, want people to admire Valentin or condemn him Puig has made up Valentin as a fellow Marxist with a substantial amount of political ideals expected of the character, however, I got the impression that Puig wanted people to condemn Valentin. One reason One reason is due to Valentin's belated confession of a mindframe which can prove to be dangerous to the movement, a betrayal to their cause in favor of personal salvation, which was clear when he confided that " I don't deserve to die in this cell. I only confessed some code names they already knew. I can't stand being a martyr. It infuriates me. I don't want to be a martyr - my whole life a mistake" (Puig, 67). Another reason for the condemnation of Valentin is in empathy to the destruction he had wrought on Molina who, after his encounter with Valentin, had a change of ideals when it came to approach, from personal to revolutionary. Molina had sacrificed his finally attained freedom for his love of Valentin only to be mistakenly executed by the movement of his lover. MOLINA: I have a message from Valentin. Are you Lidia YOUNG WOMAN: Yes. Get in. Quick. As Molina reaches for the car door, AN AGENT DIVES AT HIM from behind. AGENT: Get him! As the taxi tears away, the young woman quickly draws a gun and FIRES TWO SHOTS at the agent, he crumples to the pavement. The sharp reports send the bystanders into hysteria. Molina runs off as the other two agents shoot down the street. Molina sprints erratically down a side street. Pedro and another agent are close behind. PEDRO: Stop! Molina -- stop! He fires a warning shot into the air. Pedestrians scatter. The taxi intercepts Molina's path at the end of the street. From inside the car, THE YOUNG WOMAN FIRES THREE SHOTS INTO MOLINA. The taxi speeds off. (Puig, 107-8) The argument present in this paper brought to light our perceptions on the meaning and values embedded in the terms of goodness and the typical. Kiss

Analyse current issues facing schools, teacher and the education Essay
Analyse current issues facing schools, teacher and the education system and evaluate the impact these issues have on the school and the wider community - Essay Example ain homework in a wider way, several researchers explain that the teachers provide few educational tasks to their students during the non-instructional time. According to the report of L.A. Country High School (2014), homework is having an influence on the educational development of the students in the US. From a generalised viewpoint, homework can be described as an important quality task, which is assigned by the teachers to apprentices as a measure of their regular progress and as a tool to identify the developmental needs throughout the process. Homework is mainly instructed by teachers to be completed during the free hours for students at home, which also makes it a difficult process to be mentored and monitored. Based on this notion, Hendrickson (2012) argues that in the modern educational era, the actual importance of importance of homework in the studentââ¬â¢s life remains to be obscure and unclear, especially in subjects like maths. Correspondingly, this essay focuses on obtaining an in-depth understanding regarding the importance of homework in the modern educational system and the challenges it presents thereto. In this regard, the study also emphasises the impact of homework on students, teachers and parents. In addition, an analysis has been conducted with the aim of determining the issue relating to whether the system of homework should be banned. When arguing on the banning of homework, Provenzano & Yue (2011) affirmed that it is an inseparable part of the educational life of the students in Japan when learning English. Notionally, homework is determined as a bridge of creating interaction between school and home. It is in this context that the research conducted by Office for Standards in Education (Ofsted) revealed teachers, parents and school leaders, to consider homework as a valuable educational tool for enhancing the key skills of the students that include their cognitive skills and interpretation skills (Falch, 2011). Marriage :: Literary Analysis, Gregory Corso
Gregory Corsoââ¬â¢s poem ââ¬Å"Marriageâ⬠is a beautiful, comic poem. The author is the main character and he is thinking about his future and the possibility of him getting married. He is trying to deeply think about all the possible scenarios he might face, he tries to think about the right decision to take in regard of him getting married or not getting married. So he takes a scientific approach to the dilemma, he first lays out all the possible options he has, and then he simulates every decision in his mind and tries to realize its consequences. Corso opens his poem by a question to himself ââ¬Å"Should I get married? Should I be good?â⬠this line suggests two possible interpretations. The first interpretation is relating being good as a result of getting married. The second interpretation is giving two options cannot go together, either being good or getting married. By only the first line Corso was able to set two perspectives on marriage. Corso talks about the girl next door and how he would astound her and go out on a date with her. Corso will not follow all the traditions while dating this girl, for example, he will take her to cemeteries instead of taking her to the movies, then he will kiss her and try to make love to her, but she refuses. He gets angry, but he does not show it, and he tries to convince her to sleep with him ââ¬Å"You must feel! Itââ¬â¢s beautiful to feel!â⬠(Line 7) Corso says, but she still refuses. Then Corso starts his backup plan to ponder about the bright constellation in the sky . What a genius! When Corso meets her parents he feels so uncomfortable. He tries to look very educated gentle man, so he does not ask where the bathroom is even though he wanted to use it. He realized traditions have set these stupid rules for him to follow if he wanted her parentsââ¬â¢ approval. Even when he gains the approval ââ¬Å"Say All right get married, weââ¬â¢re losing a daughter, but weââ¬â¢re gaining a sonâ⬠(Lines 21-22), he was not sure whether to ask for the bathroom ââ¬Å"And should I then ask whereââ¬â¢s the bathroom?â⬠(Line 23). He shows his disgust from peopleââ¬â¢s actions around him when he gets married. He describes the priestââ¬â¢s look at him as I he was doing something bad ââ¬Å"he is looking at me as if I masturbatedâ⬠.

Police and Justice Professionals Roles
What is the role of a criminal justice professional? There are numerous amounts of roles that a criminal justice practitioner plays. Depending on which section of the criminal justice system you are certified in, your studies ensures your specialty in your career field. In this particular essay, we will focus on the key social issues contributing to the service of the criminal justice practitioners, the role of the criminal justice professionals serving needs, and how the key social issues impact the role of the criminal justice professionals along with examples. There are numerous amounts of key social issues contributing to the need for criminal justice practitioners. The three main issues that we are going to discuss are sex offenders, drug abuse, and gun control. The first key social problem is sex offenders. When you are a sex offender, the law in the state you reside in requires you to be registered in the system and allow the public to know where you live and what kind of offen se you made (Perlam 2006. ). An example of a sex offender is someone such as an adult, adolescent, or toddler having consensual or nonconsensual sex with someone under the age of eighteen or in better words a minor.Having a sex offender living in your community might not appear to be a good thing for your schools and home, but with individuals being registered allows people in the community to be aware of them. This effects the community as a whole and the offender as an individual. The next key social problem that world has to regret is drug abuse. Drug abuse is an issue that causes a need for a criminal justice practitioner in several different ways. This subject can be very broad, therefore, we will discuss this as a whole.Drug abuse is a major social problem and it is a physical pain that a person inflicts upon themselves intentionally and unintentionally while under the influence. Drug abuse leads to life threatening addictions and can also potentially kill a person, which ther efore causes for a need of a criminal justice professional in this particular category to promote abstinence of narcotics and prevent these individuals from serving the rest of their lives behind bars. When a person abuses drugs, they do not see their problem as an issue. A criminal justice professional roles comes in place and help drug abusers in many differenceways such as, sending them to rehabilitation centers or helping them seek medical treatments. Drug abuse influence violence and others to become addicts as well in our communities. The last key social problem is gun control. In the United States Constitution, the Second Amendment states, ââ¬Å"The right of the people to keep and bear Arms, shall not be infringes. â⬠Therefore we all have a right to bear arms when we are of the right age and are licensed to do so (Reuters 2013. ) Not everyone with a gun is a criminal, yet there are people out there that are not responsible with handling a gun.The Second Amendment is of ten violated and abused based on the sum of suicides, homicides, and other crimes that involved the use of a fire arm.
